Cute Ideas for Displaying Your Photos

You’ve taken your family photos- so now what? So much of our lives on are social media, and maybe that’s the only place you like to display your photos. Personally, I love family photos hung up throughout my home. One study showed that kids get a little confidence boost from seeing their photos on display, too. If you’re a little stuck on how to display your photos, you’re in the right place!

#1 : MAKE IT BIG

Large-scale displays don’t work for every space, but one design mistake many people make is not having large enough pieces on their walls. Several small photos contribute to clutter and feeling like there is a lot of “noise” in your space. Instead of a gallery wall, you might try picking 2-3 of your favorite photos and hanging them above your sofa in large print. Something to keep in mind is that printing on a larger scale is where you can really see the quality difference among print labs. This is a scenario where it might make more sense to print through your photographer if that is a service they offer.

#2 : KEEP IT TINY

One of my favorite ways I’ve displayed photos in my home is by creating a little garland that hangs from my kitchen window. You’ll need a photo garland and wallet-sized prints to make this craft. I added origami cranes to mine for a little more color. I’ve heard of people creating these photo garlands as part of a birthday banner to add a personal touch to someone’s special day. I have a friend who has photo magnets printed all over her fridge. It’s so fun looking over all the little snapshots.

#3: GO DIGITAL

Digital photo frames have been a hit Christmas gift for the grandmothers in our lives. My mom raves about hers so much, I might have to get one for my house. Especially because I have so many favorite photos, I can’t possibly display them all any other way.

#4 : MAKE A PHOTO TREE

You can make this one holiday-themed and have a small Christmas tree with your favorite family photos displayed in ornaments. Or you can enjoy this kind of display year-round by attaching your favorite photos to the branches of an indoor tree. I have an olive tree I’m rather tempted to try this on!

#5 : PHOTO BOOKS AREN’T JUST FOR WEDDINGS

Most photographers offer photobooks, but if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, you can create your own on something like shutteryfly. If you enjoy browsing through old albums but aren’t one for scrapbooking, this is an elegant alternative. They make great conversational pieces for your coffee table!
